.  Middelkerke, joined by Kortrijk and Poperinge, is also the first child-friendly municipality of West Flanders. Middelkerke was awarded the label after a long and intensive process, which spanned over a year and a half.

Not only the municipal services, but also the public social welfare centres, the police department, civil society, educational institutions, and many children and youths were involved.

Middelkerke has a lot to offer for children and young families. There are many possibilities for a day out or a nice family holiday. Middelkerke is officially the most child-friendly seaside destination.
