(° 1978, Virton - lives and works in Brussels)
The tactile works of Elodie Antoine arise from flexible material such as thread, fabric, paper, linen, felt or glass. And at the same time she works with everyday objects such as a chair, a hairbrush, a frame or a wash basin and creates a visual micro-universe with each shape balancing between the organic and the vegetable. And while she explores the potential of different materials in her oeuvre, her proliferating and heterogeneous installations appear in unexpected and surprising places. Her interactions are sometimes swirling, more often intimate and sensual, sometimes seemingly absent and fused with the environment. It connects various apparent opposites of everyday life such as male and female, inner and outer.
