“I’m interested in places with memories. Not to hold them, but on the contrary: to experiment with the tangible and the intangible. I stimulate dreams and desires, use them as a starting point in my own work and challenge the viewer to face his own fears, needs and thoughts ”, writes Caroline Van den Eynden. The staged spaces in the form of sculptures are created with meticulous dexterity. She works according to traditional methods with raw and precious materials that seem to comply with the architectural rules, but deviate from these on crucial points. In this way, she builds up a field of tension that links transparency to emptiness and creates a perfectly finished whole that is not conclusive: an apartment becomes a model, a model becomes a penthouse, a swimming pool seems to float along the wall.
